Perth Bride, Japleen, shares special moments and some finer details from her big day in August 2018.

Jason Soon Photography (Edward Lim and Jason Soon) attended to capture their first ever Sikh wedding. Japleen says, “My homework for them involved writing a 13-page document explaining every little detail expected to happen leading up to and during the Anand Karaj, including key moments and reactions to look out for, things not to be missed and a photography run-sheet of specific details/people/events. Going in with my notes and their skills, they did a beautiful job for their first time and we have some truly timeless photos to cherish.”

Mehndi: “Dhrutika at West Coast Mehndi is incredible! She prepared a design for me to my liking, and then spent 7.5 hours doing it on my arms and feet. Her dedication and attention to detail was fantastic.”
Jewellery: (both bride and groom): Regarding Shalona at Modern Day Rani, “I can only add to the number of voices saying she’s a bit of a superwoman. A breath of fresh air amongst Indian wedding vendors! She offers consistent communication, keeps you updated on progress and takes your feedback into consideration. She’s reliable and has incredible style. I’m still needing her for other weddings I’m helping out with now!”, says Japleen.

Outfit (both bride and groom):  Shivani at Intricado by Shivani based in Delhi. “Although the outfit turned out nice for me, the communication was a bit unreliable. I would order from her again if I wanted something custom-made but  I’d just be very specific and I would probably provide a wedding date 2-3 months prior to the actual wedding because my fittings were not accurate and I had to get it refitted completely. You also have to push to get the outfit done a bit early. The groom’s outfit was unfortunately not a good fit.”
Fittings: “On the contrary, my tailor was probably one of the most skilled tailors in Australia. He dismantled my entire outfit because it was three sizes too big and re-fitted it completely to my size. He’s a bit expensive, but it was worth every buck for both bride and groom. His name is Mahesh at Payal Tailors. “

For the wedding day, a small pamphlet was prepared detailing the significance of Anand Karaj since they had quite a few non-Sikh wedding guests attending. These were placed at the entrance so the guests could follow and follow the couple on their journey.
Japleen’s wedding was styled by Rachael at The Original Wedding Company . She adds, “Rachel was all the “everything is calm and under control” we needed during the wedding. Very organised and detail-oriented. These guys were also exceptionally experienced!”.
