Madhuri & Giuseppe – Perth, WA

Your bachelor/bachelorette life comes to a sweet end with your wedding, which opens up new adventures.  Be it for a girl or a boy, each wedding is unique, and it's always the dream day of one's life. Here, we would like to share another romantic Indo-Italian union. Take a look at their beautiful wedding photos.

I, Madhuri Manohar, was born and raised in Bangalore, the Southern Part of India.  An engineering graduate, I moved into the modeling field and won a 'Miss Glowing skin' award at the Ponds Femina Miss India 2013. I moved to Australia in 2014 and currently work as a Software engineer in the private sector.  My husband, Giuseppe Di Franco, was born and raised in Perth. He is a co-founder and the Chief Technical Officer of a software company in Perth. Born in an Italian family, Giuseppe moved to Melbourne 7 years ago. A very cultured, kind, intelligent person, Giuseppe loves family trips.

Our paths crossed at a tech meet-up in Perth. Giuseppe invited me out to lunch on the first day, and we realized we had some connection. We were both smitten by each other. One day in 2020, we were on holiday in Pemberton. It was the most exceptional moment of my life when Giuseppe proposed to me and popped the question – “Will you marry me?" while we were having a magical dinner at the Pullman Resort. There was no looking back from that day onward, and here we are today, happily married!! From that very special day, Giuseppe and I gained beautiful moments together. The delicious food outings, the adventurous cooking moments, watching Bollywood movies with English subtitles, celebrating every festival, and learning those Bollywood dance moves were incredible.

Wedding planning was the most challenging part of my journey. I moved here without my family, and our cultural backgrounds and where we were born were different. We spent a lot of time researching vendors, making Pinterest boards, following vendors on Instagram, checking their works, analyzing and reviewing them. As both families were from different countries, followed different customs, and had different lifestyles, I was unsure how everything would work out. My goal was to find a thorough wedding planner so that the guests could enjoy the ceremony. Finally, after many discussions, we choose the vendors that match our visions and conditions for our dream day and book them early so we do not miss their dates and schedule things.

We had a four-day grand wedding. Raj and Khyati, who are close friends, organized Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies for us. However, my better half took the lead in planning the wedding, learning about Indian traditions, and ensuring everything was authentic and unique. I was sad only because of my parent's absence at the wedding, and it would have been great if my parents were able to make it from India. We, too, had a legal ceremony in our gorgeous backyard because we had to move our wedding from May to June due to a COVID-19 lockdown in Perth. Our wedding ceremony and wedding reception were at Belvoir Homestead, Upper Swan. That was the full stop to a grand wedding ceremony, but the beginning of an adventuresome life journey.
